Prof. Dr. Nesrin Öztürk Ercelen
MEDICAL GENETICS SPECIALLIST
Dr. Nesrin Ozturk Ercelen graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1993. In 2000, she earned her Ph.D. from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine. In the same year, she received certifications in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) from the Reproductive Genetics Institute in Chicago. Between 2000 and 2010, Dr. Ercelen established the Genetics and Genomic Sciences Center at American Hospital in Istanbul, where she served as Medical Director until 2010.
In September 2010, she became an Associate Professor at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Genetics, where she established and directed the Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research and Treatment Center at Liv Hospital. From 2018 to 2019, she conducted academic research as a visiting faculty member at the University of California, Irvine, Department of Genetics.
Between 2019 and 2021, Dr. Nesrin Ozturk Ercelen served as the Medical Director at the AtiGen-Cell Tissue and Stem Cell Center, where she led the Covid-MSC Treatment Program for the Turkish Ministry of Health and academic institutions. In 2021, she became Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Haliç University. In 2022, she was appointed Head of the Department of Medical Genetics at Uskudar University Faculty of Medicine and initiated the Ph.D. program in Medical Genetics. In 2024, she was appointed the Director of the Uskudar University Biotechnology Research and Application Center, BIYOTEKMER. In 2024, Dr. Ercelen was appointed as the Director of Regulatory Affairs at the Global Regenerative Academy (GRA), Miami. She is responsible for overseeing the creation and enforcement of guidelines that ensure the safety and effectiveness of regenerative therapies. Her work focuses on developing evidence-based regulatory frameworks that maintain patient safety and clinical integrity across various fields, including orthopedics, gynecology, urology, and neurology, advancing GRA’s mission of establishing global standards in regenerative medicine.
Dr. Nesrin Ozturk Ercelen has published numerous scientific articles in national and international journals on clinical genetics, preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), reproductive genetics, preventive/personalized medicine, and regenerative medicine/stem cell therapies. She has also organized many educational programs and conferences on these topics.
